"Awesome read. Makes me wish I could fast forward my munchkin to 4 years old. Small game with a massive impact. The ripples go on on."

"At least I'm not alone with avoiding all the Mass Effect 3 spoilers. I finished ME 2 almost two weeks ago and I'm gearing up for a second play through. Just have to give my body time to recover from the lack of sleep that ME 2 inflicted on me (going to bed at 4am and getting up at 8am for about a month es no bueno). I had to play after everyone went to bed in order to enjoy it and not rush through it. Hoepefully Mass Effect 3 will deliver the goods in the following months. Hope bioware doesn't modfiy the game too much with all the FTC complaining (did the FTC take that request serious? I mean it is jsut a game, but  people are allowed to report offensive art so why not?)"

I just finished my first play-through of Mass Effect 2 and have been avoiding all this news on the "horrible" ending, so thanks for the lack of spoilers.

Honestly, I feel the same way about the Mass Effect series. I've been playing games for the last few years and have not been able to finish them. I lose interest due to the sheer volume of games available, gameplay redundancy, and just plain old lack of time  I started Assassin’s Creed 2 and bought 3 (the first "3" with Ezio) with the hope to finish them, but I find myself bored to tears being more than halfway through AS2. Btw I'm lying; I did run through Dead Space 2 pretty fast, shit was awesome. Like a delicious TV dinner of a video game, succinct and hella filling. Unlike Mass Effect 2, which was a 4-course meal made by Mario Batali.

Mass Effect 2 was different...I played through it once in about a month and can’t wait to do it all over again, because I truly expect this play through to be different. Not many games (that I'm aware of) have this kind of pull now-a-days. Especially if you are a Husband, Father, Employee, or Employer; adult life does not allow you the hobby time that high school or extended adolescent college life did. Mass Effect 2 was so worth the time and I feel (emphasis on the temporary) that no matter the ending that Bioware selected, it’s sufficient, because it supports the message they wanted Mass Effect to embody. Beware, your choices matter pilgrim. From the minor to major, you better think before you press.

By the time I’m able to witness the controversial ME3 ending these conversations will be settled, squashed, forgotten, or still wholly despised by countless individuals. Hopefully I won’t be one of them, and my River Shepard’s journey will not be in vain.

Awesome opinion Brian.

Cheers!

"Because of you im going to have to play through Mass Effect 2 (PS3) again. Didnt realize how much of the narrative I was missing out on by allowing my game to proceed with the default choices provided in a non import Mass Effect 2 character. Should have waited on my Cerberus DL pack for PS3 before playing. Ah shiz-nit. *face-palm"

"Almost exactly how I felt about Asassin's Creed 2 after taking a 3-4 month break and being 60% done with the game."

"Exactly...

However, after playing street fighter and getting your ass handed to you a few times, you realize this game requires time too. Street Fighter does provide nice concise blips of gaming, the hard part is putting down the controller (or fightstick) when you lose that close match. Good-bye single match. Hellooooo timesuck."

"This is all true, but at the end of the day we have to remember that Capcom is out to make a profit. Prior to this console generation, If Capcom had the opportunity to slowly pillage out wallets in a similar manner they would have done so without question. I honestly think that this micro-transaction setup is going to be here to stay. I mean look at iTunes its a similar setup. These companies are just discovering and taking advantage of new markets that are derived from our contemporary internet culture. I agree with your disdain and annoyance with their business model, but as long as we purchase any of these DLCs Capcom will continue bcause the profits are there. Money talks, especially when many of the gamers now-a-days are grown ass men (and women) who have some means of disposable income. Maybe I'm just a cynic and the fighting game community will yell loud enough that Capcom will fold. You all made MvC3 possible, so why not believe that the end of DLC/micro-transactions/wallet molestation is on the horizon. I doubt it, but faith and commitment can change things. Now off to Capcom Unity Boards to perform my daily Troll activities. Make me a believer yall."

"Very informative. I feel you on the seriousness of creating a character. I spend crazy time building their facial features and I think way too much about the pros and cons of the various personas you can choose from, but that is what a game is about- being able to interact with a fantasy.

But it sounds like the comic book intro will need some supplemental research via message boards. I figured something like that would not be able to sufficiently convey the intimates of Mass Effect 1, but at least they put some effort into it. I guess in the end you just have to take the initiative to find alternative sources that will help give those storyline choices more weight. Can't wait till the price drops on this so I can scoop it off of Ebay. Games are so expensive, its hard to balance a family budget combined with a love of gaming. "
