"emember watching my older brother beat Mario and get to the first boss of Fester's quest. I was so amazed because when I attempt these and my young age, it was so hard that I looked up to anyone who could do the things I couldn't.
Nintendo Power was where it was at. This was how I got ahead of the other kids and learned the cryptic hidden gems of games. The two most awesome hidden things that stand out in my memory: fighting Reptile in Mortal Kombat, and the Naboo Fighter in Star Wars - Rogue Squadron. Rogue Squadron came out before Episode I was released, so the fact that in the game made this one of the most epic secrets I can recall"

I appreciate innovation and not just doing the same thing over and over because you never know what is going to be a hit and what is going to flop.
Everyone mocked the Wii for motion sensitive controllers, and then look what happened. I think the reason is to pull in a much wider demographic for people who use the system and the Wii was extremely successful in doing so. But at the same time it has driven it's original audience away with this flood of family titles and shitty TV Show based games - I don't think I've turned on my Wii in well over 3 months and that last game I purchased was Super Mario Galaxy. And with all these add ons and attachments for the Wii motes, it is easy to get lost in the fact that only a minority games actually USE these (see: Wii Motion Plus).
Remember that one Gundam game with that was $180 with the giant controller? Other than the fact that it was huge and exspensive, I sure don't.
Complicated periphreals and controllers and addons are more to pull in casual gamers or people who don't normally play video games and consequently the titles that result from these extras tend to be sub par in standards.
