PSP GO! Footage Leaks
Written by MinorNelson

PSP Go!Editor's Note: Although we'd really prefer it if users used their real names here before we promote their stories to the front page, "MinorNelson" did dig up something cool, right before E3. Also, Justin Dennis points out leaked images from Eurogamer. -Shoe

PSP Go! footage leaks early, along with video of the new LittleBigPlanet. Also mentioned: watching TV shows on the PSP Go!, the new Metal Gear, and Gran Turismo. The speaker also states that it will not replace the old PSP.

No dual analog?

Meh
Duncan Hamilton , May 30, 2009
I cannot tell if there are two analog sticks or not. Can anyone see?
Lance Darnell , May 30, 2009
I'm pretty sure he'd say if their was, that would be a major marketing point.
Duncan Hamilton , May 30, 2009
There is not
Lance Darnell , May 30, 2009
I can barely hear any of the details. The design isn't as sexy as I thought it would be. I still look forward to hearing about more of the features next week.

At 0:49, the screen flashes when it cuts back to the interview, and if you pause at that moment, you can get a good look at it. Man, does that sucker look awkward.

I agree, the analog knob is completely in the wrong place!
You'd have to do some serious thumb yoga before playing for any length of time.

I've seen sex toys that looked more comfortable. I think this is the biggest mistake since the boomerang controller, and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't see the light of day (not in that form, anyway).

Looks like some quality press shots of the thing have emerged here--

Footage removed...wow I wonder why?
Derek Lavigne , May 30, 2009
im kind of dissapointed that it is just a redesign, I would have much prefered a real PSP2
Terence Broad , May 30, 2009
Sorry but that "thing" looks atrocious. Such a terrible redesign.
Shalamar Cammorto , May 30, 2009
Damn it, I never even got to see the footage.
Michael Burridge , May 30, 2009
The fact that they did not include a second analog stick just shows how out of touch they are...
Lance Darnell , May 30, 2009
Here is a link to the Qore video.

Great, I'll have to suffer with that freak-ish design just so I can have the flash-memory.
Michael Burridge , May 30, 2009
great 4 years of PSP games down the toilet.
Ryan Schuster , May 31, 2009
I'm hearing alot of complaints about the redesign of the PSP Go, which is understandable, to a point. It's clearly a redesign with a few new add-on features to make it appealing. As a person who didn't want the PSP originally this version of the handheld makes it really appealing. With the UMD gone and with 16gb built in flash memory and bluetooth compatibility, along with all the features of the 3000 model, this handheld will be the one to beat coming this Christmas. Sure it's not pretty but you also can't deny that with everything that it has to offer gaming on the go will be a whole lot nicer. What Sony needs to do now is forget about triple 'A' titles for the handheld and think about small, bite sized, games and they'll have a winner.
TOYBOXX , May 31, 2009
I'll admit that I like the new design, but I won't get one. No physical media means no sale for me!
David Ngo , May 31, 2009
@ryanschuster: i don't understand your "4 years of psp games down the toilet" comment. how are they down the toilet? they will still be selling the UMD-based PSP, and downloadable titles will still play on your old PSP.

i wonder how comfortable the analog nub placement will be. the current one isn't very comfortable either

i see a lot of complaints here about the lack of physical media and the lack of 2nd nub, but it seems that the go is not targeted toward the hardcore gamer market (i.e. not us), it's targeted toward a new demographic. that's why they aren't discontinuing the psp 3000. they will have to keep the price reasonable, though, if they really want to capture a more casual audience.
wayne a. lee , May 31, 2009
im just pissed at the fact that there are 2 psp's. Why should I have both?
Ryan Schuster , May 31, 2009
@Wayne - Well said, and I agree!
Lance Darnell , May 31, 2009
maybe with the bluetooth connectivity there will be the possibility of connecting it to the ps3 in a way that dosnt resemble i piece of shit cluster fuck.
Jazz English , May 31, 2009
I don't mind the fact that it doesn't have a second analog stick, but I don't like the slide form factor myself.
Aaron Pathammavong , May 31, 2009
It's stupid that you can't just get rid of your old PSP and use the games you already have with the new one. Either truly upgrade or make it backwards compatible. This side grade bullcrap is annoying.
Matthew Collings , June 01, 2009
So it won't replace the PSP 3000, and the design seems to be inelegant to say the least. Not impressed at all. I think I'll pass on this one.
Wilson Rosario , June 01, 2009
I think this new design looks pretty sweet but do agree with the fact that they should have put a 2nd analog nub where the Start/Select buttons are and put the Start/Select buttons above the nubs. I wonder how much it'll cost...
Joshua Henderson , June 01, 2009
Looks nice but, is there some sort of touch screen on that? If there isn't then I'm gonna pass on this. I think the reason why IPhone is such a success is because it does multiple things "decently". It has a "decent" internet browser, it is a "decent" phone, it has "decent" games at "decent" prices with a "decent" camera with a "decent" media player and a beautiful design.
This PSP has a crappy design "in regards to the analog stick location. I like the fact that you can hide the buttons when you just want to watch movies but, I really think in order to use the internet browser properly you need a touchscreen to type stuff in. If not I think Sony has just wasted money that they could have used on the PS3 network. They are already behind the DS and there is no chance in hell they will catch up. In the crappy economic state we are in Sony really should stop digging their grave any deeper, those PS2's will eventually stop selling and then what?
