Bitmob Los Angeles: Let's Do This

By Nick Conti in Untagged  on

I've lived in Los Angeles for about 4 years now, and in that time I haven't met many people with my passion for playing games, or who like to have conversations about the medium in general.  Granted, I haven't been doing too much to seek these personalities out, but I'd like to change that.

I work in TV/Film production and would like to create a small webisodic show highlighting what LA has to offer as a gaming city/community.  Let's take a look at the great shops/bars/events/culture that we can all be taking advantage of but just haven't been clued in on yet.  LA is a hotbed of game development and culture, so why don't we give the rest of the country/world a better sense of us as gamers and how we get our fix out here.  And what better place to start venting this content than on Bitmob, right?

Leave a comment or Email me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you live in LA and want to be a part of what I would like to end up being "a localized, culture-focused version of what we love from Area 5."  Keep in mind this will be a passion project through and through, so our work will be done only for the sake of creating it.  Any feedback is welcome!

World Record gamer Justin Wong lives in L.A. He recently won the Gamestop Street Fighter 4 Tournament. He'll be at E3 which is coming up soon near you.

Wait, what world records does Justin Wong hold? The only one I can think of is "Most disappointing SFIV loss" after Daigo swept him four-rounds-to-none in the Gamestop exhibitions.I'm sure Daigo has done this to a lot of players, but it just goes to show how unsuccessful the Gamestop nationals were in terms of determining who's the "world's best". Though I'm sure an Evo rematch would be much closer.

Thanks for the heads-up! I've got a pass to E3 this year thanks to working on an animated TV show (they really did loosen the criteria for entry again), so maybe I'll get an opportunity to run into him there.

Steve Weibe's Donkey Kong World Record attempt will be on the 2nd of June at E3 and televised live by G4. Justin has issued an an open challenge on Street Fighter 4 at E3 as well. Wish I was going.
