Anvil! The Story of Anvil: A Movie Any Brutal Legend Fan Should See.

OK, I know that Bitmob is a video game site, but right now gamers around the world are picking up their copies of Brutal Legend, a game that celebrates all things Metal. While there is a good chance that most Bitmobber's are not huge fans of Metal music, I do think that there is a chance that Brutal Legend might just get at least a few of you to explore what I think is the funnest type of music to listen to.

Is it good music? Not really. But it is always a blast to rock out to!

If playing Brutal Legend makes you feel even in the slightest like exploring deeper into Metal music, then I highly recommend watching Anvil! The Story of Anvil. Anvil! is a documentary that follows one of the most influential, yet unrecognized and probably least successful band to ever have influenced such huge acts like Metallica and Guns N Roses.

Anvil is a Canadian band. They have been together for thirty years, which is a feat in itself. I have to admit that before watching the documentary I had never really heard too much about Anvil other than a few mentions from other Metal acts. Still, I put it on my Netflix queue as a primer for Brutal Legend and quickly fell in love with both the film and the band.

The whole affair could have turned into a Spinal Tap sized yuk-fest. Sure, there are moments where the film is hilariously offbeat: amps that go to 11, fights the break out over the littlest infraction, a European tour that goes beyond disaster. But what really stands out about the group are the human bonds that lead two guys to continue making music despite the fact that few people in their hometown know who they are, and irregardless of the fact that they have to work day jobs like working for a school lunch caterer in order to make ends meet.

The guys from Anvil might write songs about the Inquisition Era act of hanging people by their thumbs to turn them towards Christ. The might even dress like rock gods when they go out on stage and play their guitars with dildos. Despite all this, what really stands out about them is they are two best friends who are extremely passionate about the music they play.

Honestly I love country music more then anything, but I honestly liked the demo due to game play mechanics, but the back ground music and metal in game is just for fan boys and suck. (Yes it is a run on sentence)

@Toby: Just because you're first name is Toby doesn't mean you have to lie about the greatness of metal and pretend to love Toby Keith dude! smilies/cheesy.gif

@Stephano I was named after that one movie. " Toby Tyler ran away with the circus" How ever my dad was a country fan and picked it up after him. Honestly Toby keith ain't my kind of artist, but what he does for the military is awesome.

How ever there is a Writer from Bravewords (Metal website/mag) called Jason Deaville who I read and know personally. Great writer and someone who has been getting me into metal slowly , but surely. As well he loves the music track for this game.

The metal in Brutal Legend is cheesy 80's hair metal. I think if you can go with the flow on it then it can be a ton of fun. If you can't then it will grate you down to the last nerve.

I get that same feeling from all the rap and screamo that add into every sports game now.
