Best 2008 Game of 2009: Burnout Paradise

65 hours of racing goodness and I never once played an online game. Misanthropic tendencies aside, the shift to an open-world format while maintaining the same tight controls as previous games led to me being hopelessly addicted to this driving experience. Add to it an accessible collection mechanic and I never stood a chance.

In classic late to the party fashion, I picked up Burnout Paradise in January of 2009, a full year after it's release. However, this didn't mean I was completely left out because Criterion just happened to release a full expansion, Big Surf Island, right around the time I had finished up with the rest of the game. If you like racing games, get Burnout Paradise.

Man, I've owned this for over a year now, and still haven't gotten around to it. I probably should soon.

I totally agree, wholeheartedly. Before I even read the post. But then, you know, I turned around and read it. And agreed once again.

When I raise my 360 from the dead (hopefully soon), we need to crack that anti-social behavior of yours so I can pick your brain while I smash cars into you.
