I have been conjuring up numerous stories in the last couple of weeks all as a result of finding and falling in love with the a certain game. This game is Minecraft.

Many video games are an expression of childhood power fantasies, but what if developers allow you to permanently fail or even deny you victory completely?

Video games tell stories in many different ways. Is loot-whoring a method with which to create a narrative?

"A nice little break up. With the top dog where it should be. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the games (well most) turn out as well"

"I've always been a big fan of car combat games and I am really hoping this one is good. I also got lucky and managed to get into the 48hr beta for Blur next week :D"

"That is an impressive group of four games but I cannot go past Shadow of the Colossus, the narrative development and the variety of battles make it a great title and worthy of all its praise. As for the other three I would put BG&E second only because it is on my list of shame as well. Both Psychonauts and Okami were games that I played and enjoyed but could never work through to completion, both are special in their own ways but I found their mechanics started to grate on me after a few hours.

Good luck with your choice!"

"shock 2 is also against Objectivism, I guess they missed that opinion. But it's all ok because it is a fantasy universe so we are al"

"only thoughts on being critical of any piece of art/culture etc is that you need to justify your opinion. I think whether someone is qualified to be a critic will be visible in how they go about justifying their point of view. Thanks for the cool ar"

"enerally don't try to 100% any one game. I play the game for as long as I enjoy it and usually until the natural completion of the story / narrative. The times I have trekked towards 100% in any given were either when the achievement system offered some new fun way to play the game or if I was still enjoying the game enough to keep at it. The most recent example of this for me was AC2. I enjoyed the movement of Ezio around the cities enough on it's own to justify the collection achievements and every other one of them naturally sprung from"

"s game has had some strong word of mouth and that was enough for me to give it a purchase to fill the shrinking gap leading to Bioshock 2. I also would Vigil to keep getting work so they can get a really polished release next time around. Nice review R"

"excellent line and worthy of the prize :) I talked up this line without spoiling it to a bunch of friends who thought they'd hit it with the line from Ezio's mother, much better reactions once they got to"

"e article, thanks for post Gabriel. Just on the point of your bright points I think you should give Mirror's Edge a look if you want to see a great character in Faith. She is a female but not overly objectified and is also Asian but not overly Orientalized either. Faith represents a strong character that is developed as a real person not as a piece of meat with dialogue. There are other plot elements regarding her interaction with other characters but I won't avoid spoilers by going into"

"gree the games based on films should always flesh out the world set up by the film, Riddick being the example that Ian mentioned. Personally I would love to see Hellboy turned into a quality squad based action game akin to the Freedom Force series but with a more polish of course. The movies set up a wealth of scenarios that utilize teamwork repeatedly and the universe has a wealth of other scenarios that could be drawn from the comic source ma"

"ood account of your personal reaction to an interesting genre of games. I'm surprised you did not mention the Thief games which were the first stealth games that I did play. I personally hate when games have a stealth moment just to mix things up when the game was obviously not designed for that function yet I can also think of times it can be done well in contemporary titles such as the MW2 levels. On the horizon I hope we see a revival of the pure stealth game akin to those of old, I think the best way is to include combat but do so in two ways: 1) You need to plan and be lucky to win any pitched fight 2) Fights cause extra trouble for future stealthy movements in the form of bodies There is a new Thief game on the horizon so here is hoping that it gives stealth genre fans something to have fu"
