This poster doesn't discourage me. I now really want to analyze data across publications, and arrive a scoring function that is predictive of game sales. I'm surprised that gaming companies haven't done this already. Actually, why hasn't Metacritic done this? I could probably finish this analysis in a day if I had the raw data. If scoring and sales did not correlate at all, i could also solve for that. Oooh, I could even rate publications at their ability to be predictive of game sales. See, the final scoring function would have a coefficient from 0 - infinity for each publication. Higher weighted publications would be more predictive of sales. Muhaha I could probably influence billions of dollars in ad revenue. But alas I don't work for free.

Hey, isn't it Activision Blizzard. I noticed that people tend to omit the Blizzard part when speaking negatively about the company.
Also, I predict international sales of Guitar Hero: Nickelback wouldn't be as bad as one would hope. People have bad taste. Also, wouldn't at some point Creed and Nickelback become one band known as Creepback.

It was announced today that one in seven Americans now lives at or below the poverty line. While Metacritic is highly imperfect, for those of us with less money it serves as a good guide for what we can expect to find enjoyable. Ever since I started play video games as kid, there is no lower feeling than purchasing a game you don't like. And renting is not really option either, because Blockbuster stocks so few titles and Gamefly's shipping is painfully slow outside of big titles.
