News Blips: Mega Man 10 Revealed, Harmonix Cuts 39 Positions, New Borderlands DLC Coming, and More
Written by Alejandro Quan-Madrid

This is Mega Man 10, which if represented in roman numerals would be Mega Man X -- but this is an entirely different game than Mega Man X. Got it?

News Blips:

Mega Man 10

The latest issue of Nintendo Power has the scoop on the upcoming Mega Man 10 for WiiWare. The game will continue the NES-style aesthetic resurrected in Mega Man 9, feature new bosses, and have Proto Man as a playable character from the get-go. Now is a good time to stock up on extra controllers to replace the current one you'll inevitably throw across the room in frustration while playing. [Joystiq]

Harmonix, developer of the Rock Band franchise, has cut 39 positions from their staff. It's reported that most of the positions are from QA. We wish those who have been affected and their families the best during this difficult time of year. [1UP]

New Borderlands DLC, entitled Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot will be coming out at the end of this month for Xbox 360 and the beginning of January for PS3. In additon to the three new Riot Mode arenas being introduced, the expansion will feature a bank that players can store their weapons in. We strongly recommend only storing weapons in this digital bank and that you refrain from attempting to store weapons in a real-life bank.

The Nintendo DS has passed the 10 million mark in unit sales in the UK. Nintendo attributes much of the sales success to the Touch Generation games which are expanding the traditional market. Congratulations to the UK, but some people are gonna have to start doubling up on DS console purchases if they want to catch up to the US and Japan. [gi.biz]

Are there any details on a PC release of the Borderlands DLC?

They said it's coming but didn't specify when. Lame huh?

To tell you the truth, I still have to beat Borderlands, so I'm not in such a hurry. But lame nonetheless!

I keep seeing the WiiWare news everywhere but nothing about if it is exclusive or not. Anyone have any idea whether or not it is coming to XBL or PSN?

Mega Man 10 was revealed by Nintendo Power.

My guess is Mega Man 10 is a timed exclusive, releasing only on Wii first and then coming to the other consoles later in the year like Mega Man 9. But for all we know it might be exclusive.

If Mega Man 9 did well on the HD consoles, it should be released there somewhere down the line.

Capcom, stop making lame nostalgia heavy games and continue the legends/x series or do some nice HD remakes (like SF2 HD remix and Bionic Commando)

Yay for more Megaman and controller smashing fun!

I am conflicted about the Borderlands DLC. On one hand, I think it's awesome Gearbox is supporting their game with new content. On the other hand, my expectations were so high after the Zombie Island DLC that having a few arenas and a storage bank was underwhelming.

If they come out with something similar to Dr Ned's Zombie Island, I'm all in. Again.

If only I could redact the above post. Because I cannot then I will merely drop a deuce with the following:

Hold up, wait a minute -- upon further review, I'm all in.

After doing a bit more research on the Borderlands DLC, I discovered the "arenas" are in the spirit of GOW's Horde, ODST's Firefight, and Call of Duty World at War's Nazi Zombies.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time playing each of the above, so with this DLC I know I will get my money's worth and then some.
