I'm working on a mashup/mix/EP that I originally planned to release this week, but surprise, I'm delaying it to try and add some more polish.
Nintendo guru Shigeru Miyamoto once said something to the extent of, a delayed game will eventually become great, but a rushed game is bad forever, and I like to use that as a frame of reference for my creative projects. Of course I have to balance that with actually getting the damn thing done and then putting it out.
Breaking down the title, the project will be consist of Jay-Z+The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening+beats for some tracks and then Zelda+beats for others. Visual art will also be a part of it and maybe even some video. Exciting, no?
Listen to/download the mp3 after the break.
Jay-Zelda: Beat's Awakening will be free to download and availble here at Bitmob. Also, you can follow me on Twitter (@aquma) and I'll tweet when it's done and possibly post some more previews.
Anyhow, let me know what you think (and keep in mind that youtube audio quality isn't the best).
Wow! Like Ocarina of Rhyme, this is amazing. I can't wait for this project to get done. Awesome work so far Alejandro

That Link's awakening tune used with the Jay-Z song, any chance of you emailing me the Mp3 if possible?

Excellent! Upon reading the header, the first assumption would be the use of the most known beats such as the theme song, but it's great to hear an underrated musical score being revived. Great job!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
@David, I used a GBS player and the Link's Awakening GBS file to get the track (Google time). You can make your own MP3 this way. If you can't figure it out, pm me on twitter and I'll send you the track.

Ha, that's awesome! I used to be a pretty big fan of Jay-Z, and love Link's Awakening. Nice job.

I'm not the biggest chiptune fan, but I really dig that, dude. Looking forward to the rest!

@Brett, thanks. I wouldn't consider myself that big of a chiptune fan either. It's certain uses of it and then certain songs/games that I really like. Usually there's only so much you can take though before you want to rip your hair out.

@Alejandro: Exactly! I'm down with samples in hip hop or other genres, but I can't take it straight.

Whoa, this sounds really awesome; the best part is that I've just started getting into Jay-Z so that makes it so much better for me. I'm excited.

Sorry to say but I don't think it really works. Could work with a chiptune version of the original beat.

@Panu, Personally i find chiptune covers of hip hop songs to be a bit boring and uninspired, but maybe that's just me.

That was really sweet. I can't wait to hear the rest. Oh and thanks to Andy for mentioning Ocarina of Rhyme. That shit is awesome.
