It's possible that movie reviewers are simply biased against films based on video games -- or maybe most of these flicks just flat-out suck.
News Blips:

Movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes has awarded Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li the Moldy, Golden Tomato award for being the worst reviewed movie of 2009. The film has an embarrassing 4% positive score with only two favorable reviews. At least no one (this time around) made a game, based on a movie, based on a game to further soil the Street Fighter name. [Joystiq]
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime feels that a lack of high-definition streaming support for Netflix on the Wii is "no loss for the Wii consumer." Speaking with CNBC, he addressed the issue, noting that the "majoirty of Netflix content that is available for streaming through Netflix is not HD." Come on Nintendo, jump on the HD bandwagon already before everyone jumps ship to 3D and you look even more behind the curve! [1UP]
Valve is taking the Bitmob approach to Team Fortress 2 and wants to promote content made by the community. Interested players can check out the Contribute site for info on how to submit their own TF2 items and avatars that, pending approval, can end up in the game. Eventually, the site will feature an image gallery to show off the fan-made content that others can comment on. See, it looks like we're on to something! [Destructoid]
According to a recent survey by the Harrison Group and Activision Publishing, 82 percent of parents are familiar with the ESRB rating guidelines. Interestingly only 70 percent of parents claimed to actually pay attention to the ratings when purchasing games for their children. Finally, 63 percent of parents in gaming households play games themselves. Maybe Andrew Hiscock and Alex Cronk-Young (co-authors of the Generation Video Game articles) were a part of this survey.
