I'm a pinball fiend. Everytime I see a pinball machine, I gravitate torwards it and surrender my money to it's lovely pull. Something about the lights, assorted effects and ever climbing score just grab me and won't let go. I was excited then to see that Wild West Pinball become a free game on the iTunes store. I could now have pinball in my pocket, with just a few quirks left squash out.

Wild West Pinball starts will a flyover of the table, showing you all the points of interest. You can roll into the Indian Village for points, hit the Bar for a mission, or unlock the bank and glide in for a giant point boost. The table doesn't have a lot to shoot for and is reminiscent of old pinball tables. There are no bright lights, quirky sounds, or interesting targets, but its still charming. It's simple and easy to keep track off, makings of a good portable game.

The game is simple to control, either touching the left or right side of the screen to control the flippers. The table is a little bit bigger than the iPhone's screen, so the camera moves to follow the ball, and can lag behind when it's moving at high speed back towards the flippers. This can cause you to lose track of the ball for moment leading to a lost credit. Hopefully they can patch a smoother camera in in future updates.

Wild West Pinball is a fun time waster. There are more full featured pinball games on the iPhone, but for the low price of free, Wild West Pinball will satisfy the pinball addict in you or kill some time while waiting at the DMV.

Score: B+
