Did Nintendo Screw Over WayForward?

So last week there was that little event called E3, I'm sure some people were aware of it or following a few stories that may have come out of it.

There was another little thing that was released last week, and that is Mighty Flip Champs on DSiWare. For me, this is the first "must-have" title on DSiWare. It's original, fun, and very hard to put down. This is not a review, but I will write one as soon as I have finished it. However, my quick review is... this game is really fun!

Now to my question... Did Nintendo screw over WayForward?

  • They released the game on the Monday of E3. It's just bound to get lost in the shuffle and hype of that week.
  • They didn't even bother to mention it in their press conference, but made sure to mention the new DK vs Mario. Which did surprise me, because I think this is a title that can appeal to the "core" and casual.
  • And, they decided to release the new DK vs Mario this week, which could bury Flip Champs as a past release.

I'm not sure why Nintendo took this approach, maybe because it's not a Wario Ware mini-game, or a direct Nintendo product.

WayForward deserves all the support they get, and I really hope that the timing of the release does not hurt the download numbers for this title. They really have a winner here.

Not screwed, just did not plan a successfull marketing campaign for this game. It is sad, but it happens to the best games. please take the following two titles as an example: Psychonauts & Beyond Good & Evil.

I think I'm one of a dozen people who found Beyond Good and Evil to be particularly bland. Must be the Zeldacore in me.
