This past Saturday, over 13,000 gamers participated in Extra Life, a 24-hour charity gaming marathon benefitting Children's Miracle Network hospitals. Now that the games have been played, the lives streamed, and the donations more or less tallied, it's official: This was the biggest Extra Life yet.

If that 13,000 figure up there wasn't enough evidence, I have another number: 1.1 million, which is how many dollars the event raised before the ticker at the official website stopped counting.  With more participants set to make their runs this weekend, that total will continue to grow.

For their part, as of October 16th the fourteen members of Team Bitmob have raised a total of $2,838.11 (every bit helps, but what's up with the 11 cents?). We also had the 55th highest fundraising total out of 1,654 teams. So all in all, the event was a huge success.

Are you tired of reading numbers yet? I also have a few pictures.

I livestreamed most of my day with this unnecessarily elaborate setup. The chat didn't always work, but at least it was more embarrassing when the nude scenes came up in Heavy Rain.

Speaking of Heavy Rain...holy crap, this is creepy.

My girlfriend and I spent three and a half hours playing Beatles Rock Band to get the "Day Tripper" Achievement (worth a whopping 15 points). This is my "Yellow Submarine" face.

After I played through all of Heavy Rain, I finished up Resistance 2 before moving on to Pikmin on the Wii and ending my run with God of War: Chains of Olympus from the God of War Collection. By the time the sun came up I had spent about an hour stuck in a room, unable to figure out what the game wanted from me. My girlfriend came out to see how I was doing and cracked the puzzle in under a minute. I was too exhausted to slap my forehead.

I asked the other members of Team Bitmob to let me know how their days went. Click over to Page 2 to read some of their stories.

After some cynicism I am a convert to the mission. I intend to participate next year, if it doesn't fall on my wife's birthday. Of course, I would pay someone to play video games for 24 hours, I get so little time to play as it is. To up the challenge, I (at least right now) plan to play 24 hours of pinball (pinball fx 2 in particular). Thank you all for your hard work and your inspiration.

That extra 11 cents is from one of my donators, but I'm as confused as you are. I'm guessing he was trying to make his donation unique.

I imagine it was the remaining balance in his paypal account and just submitted it all.

I've done that before.

Ha ha, yeah, that might be. But that guy's also a real card, so it could be any number of reasons. :)

I just thought maybe he was using a keypad, and 1 was next to 0. Too many possibilities!

I had a good time.  I'll definitely take part next year, and will try to get some friends involved as well.  Thanks for the opportunity Evan.

Wow, I can barely believe it. I'm surprised so many of you have girlfriends/wives!

Ha. Haha.

Ha.

It's funny because we play video games and we are not suppose to have significant others.

Sorry for the troll, but if any video game players are going to have significant others (most do), I am not suprised it's Bitmobbers. Since so many of us are parents, after all. (Aside from being a well-adjusted group looking for intelligent conversation in a very social community, etc etc)

It was great fun and really fun reading the tweets and watching Evan's stream (all while failing miserably in Batman AA). For whatver reason, Poison Ivy was damn near inpossible. Regardles, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Shout outs to everyone in Team Bitmob!

It was quite the experience! I'm really glad I took part, and I probably wouldn't have heard of it if you hadn't written that article and started the team, Evan. So, thanks for that! I definitely want to be a part of this again next year. And I'll make sure to drum up much more support. I'll be there with bells on.

I'm glad so many of you enjoyed yourselves and will be back; the turnout this year blew me away.

Great job all around!
