I've got exciting Minibosses news in today’s Blips, but that got me wondering: If you defeat The Minibosses, does that mean you're halfway to Bruce Springsteen?

News Blips:

News Blips: Sonic CD on XBLASonic CD will spin dash its way to Xbox Live Arcade. Hey, did you have the Sega CD? If you did, I’m sorry about the three years of your life that you gave away to loading times. But I’m not sorry if you also got the chance to play Sonic CD, which is easily my favorite in the series. For the scores of you that haven’t touched this fine piece of 16-bit game design, I have good news. Major Nelson, Microsoft’s Xbox pusher-man, said his employer will be exhibiting an XBLA port of Sonic CD at the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo. No word yet on price, release date, or upgrade to the 18-year-old graphics.

Battlefield 3 will support 24-player team deathmatch across all platforms. While the PC version will feature 64 players in Conquest mode, all versions (yes, including PC) will only allow for bouts of 12 versus 12 in Team Deathmatch. Although, it isn’t really fair to describe it as “only 24” since that’s eight more than the same mode in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Honestly, 12 snipers all shooting at me from behind trees are more than enough to make me rage quit and throw my controller against the armoire. [ShackNews]

Kim Swift, lead developer on Portal, will reveal her new title at PAX. Square Enix sent out a press release informing the world of the games it intends to parade in front of expo attendees in Seattle. Regulars, like Dead Island and Final Fantasy 13-2, are making the trip, but the only surprise on the list is the latest from Airtight Games. The project is notable since this will be the first new game from Kim Swift as creative director since she left Valve. The Airtight team will participate in a PAX panel on Saturday, August 27, at 7 p.m. where I’m expecting they’ll announce the new game is called "Holes." I'm picturing Courtney Love jumping around with a slingshot that can create purple and green worm-tunnels.

Pre-order the new album from video-game rock band The Minibosses. Brass 2: Mouth is the follow-up album to 2006’s Brass and features rock-n-roll renditions of music from many of 8-bit gaming’s most treasured hits. The official tracklist is as follows:

1.       Tecmo Bowl
2.       Kid Icarus Complete
3.       Ghosts N Goblins
4.       The Legend of Zelda
5.       Sports!!!
6.       Goonies 2
7.       Super Mario Bros. 3
8.       Excitebike
9.       Batman

I’m pre-ordering for Goonies 2 and Excitebike alone. The band will release the full album for digital download on December 10 for $9.00. But if you need man-sized cover art and the musty smell of obsolete technology, the limited-edition vinyl version -- with the digital album included -- will run you $35. Go here and pre-order immediately.

I just want to play Conquest in BF3. I've been playing the BF series since 1942, but it seems like with each release people are getting more laxed about taking flags, or attacking objectives.

Yeah, the more humans you add to anything, the worse it will become.

I'm tempted by the Minibosses vinyl, but $35? I remember when records cost less than CDs! Maybe if that was a double LP with the first Brass album included....
