Really, Jack Thompson? Do you think you're worth the $120 million you're suing Facebook for?

News Blips:

Jack Thompson

Disbarred attorney and anti-video game crusader Jack Thompson is suing the popular social networking site Facebook for allowing users to post violent threats against him. In the "I hate Jack Thompson" group, one poster suggests that Thompson “should be smacked across the face with an Atari 2600.” Do you think we'll also get sued for agreeing? [Bloomberg]

In an interview with VG247, Assassin's Creed 2 director Benoit Lambert commented that the game would feature a "bit of sex." That's more or less all the information on the taboo video game feature (Hot Coffee, anyone?) he would offer. We want to know how many bits, though. 8? 16? 32 bits of sex? [VG247]

Sony had high expectations for retailer backlash to its UMD-less PSP Go. Instead, there are accounts of the PSP Go getting people in the door, and then walking out with a brand new PSP 3000. Just to recap, Sony's marketing strategy was to piss off consumers and retailers with an expensive and arguably gimped new handheld, only to have them chill out and buy a cheaper PSP 3000? Genius. Walmart is dipping their toes into the used game business. It looks like you can't trade games in, but you can buy used games that are "Guaranteed to Play." Where do the used games come from? Our guess is some poor kids in a third-world sweatshop are being paid pennies a day to just take the plastic wrap off. [Evil Avatar]

The truth is out! Thompson is actually scared of video games! Specifically, the Atari 2600.

Oh Walmart, what won't you do?

I hate to admit it, but reading that Atari threat put the biggest grin on my face.

Interesting. So Sony released the Go only to encourage people to buy the 3000 model?

This is like New Coke!!!

Jack Thompson is still looking for attention? Come on Darwinism finish the job. LOL Lance, it is totally like new coke. If you want to hear the real supposed story behind New Coke read Blink by Malcolm Gladwell.

That's exactly what I did today. No, I did not smack Jack Thompson in the face with an Atari (regretfully), but I did buy a PSP 3000.

I had been holding onto my birthday money from August as I wanted to rebuy my a PSP for a while, and I really liked the design of the PSP Go.

Unfortunately, the high price and the last minute refusal for any kind of UMD redemption program sealed the deal and I picked up a Rock Band pack instead.
