Looks like Warren Spector has let the fame get to his head -- what with him calling out the criticisms of Epic Mickey's in-game camera. Of course, I'm not referring to his fame as an internationally renowned video-game developer, but as the breakout star of a Bitmob comic strip.
News Blips:
Warren Spector insists that critics had a "misunderstanding" regarding Epic Mickey and its camera system. Speaking with MTV, Spector said, "[Epic Mickey] is not a platforming game. This is a game that takes platforming elements and adventure game elements and role-playing elements and merges them. So we couldn't tune the camera perfectly for platforming or for action adventure. It’s a very different camera style." Spector went on to explain that it isn't up to him to tell critics that they are wrong for misunderstanding that Epic Mickey isn't a Mario competitor, though he doesn't seem to mind if they read that he thinks that on the Internet.
EA and Visceral Games announce today that a Dead Space 2 single-player demo will be available for both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on December 21. The demo will reacquaint players with the protagonist from Dead Space, Isaac Clark, while introducing new weapons and tools. "The holidays are a great time to enjoy all forms of entertainment, and we can't wait to give horror and action adventure gamers a taste of what awaits them in Dead Space 2," said
Details emerge for both of Capcom's 3DS Resident Evil titles. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D lifts much of its assets from the fourth and fifth games in the Resident Evil series and is around 70 percent complete. Capcom plans to add some touch-screen and RPG elements to what should otherwise be the tried-and-true Mercenaries Mode from previous Resident Evil games. Director Koushi Nakanishi said that Revelations, on the other hand, will be a return to form for the series. With a greater focus on ammo conservation and unexpected attacks from monsters, Revelations should be a true survival-horror game. [Joystiq]
Xbox Live Arcade is getting X-Men Arcade next week, December 15. That is two months before the same title will hit the PlayStation Network. The classic arcade game will support four-player local co-op and up to six players during online play. Konami did not provide pricing details, but the current trend for XBLA suggests that 1200 Genuine Microsoft Points would be a safe bet.
