I’m already reporting on E3 2012 news in today’s blips. Can’t we just take a break for a week or something?
News Blips:
Video Game Week returns to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Last year, around the time of E3, Jimmy Fallon featured the biggest titles from the show during his Video Game Week celebration. Each night he showed a different game from a different publisher. It was apparently a great success because it has returned. It started last night with Activision showing off Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The rest of the week’s schedule includes Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Four of those five games include “3” in their title and the other one is Zelda…I want to say something about sequels here, but I’m going to get all of those games.
A rumor from VideoGamer.com claims that Microsoft will introduce the third iteration of their Xbox console at E3 2012. A “high-ranking” member of Crysis developer Crytek is the source of these rumors, and he also mentioned that TimeSplitters 4 is in development for the next-gen system. What does this mean? It means that I had to search in the closet for 30 minutes before finding and dusting off the term “next-gen.” It’s that time again! It seems like just yesterday that Dark Sector was the first game announced for the current round of consoles.
LulzSec, the band of hackers who’ve taken to cracking video-game websites and servers, are causing more mayhem across the web today. The group, whose name is short for Lulz Security, successfully took down the servers for EVE Online, Minecraft, and League of Legends. Also included in the attack was video-game Internet-based gaming magazine The Escapist. Man, how cool are these hackers? I bet they and their spiky hair are getting so laid in their neon-lit bedrooms!
Nintendo’s Wii U will feature a last-gen Radeon graphics card, but it is still more powerful than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Does everybody know what time it is? TECH TIME! Cue Tim Allen's manly grunting! According to Engadget, the new Nintendo console will feature a custom Radeon GPU which will be very similar to the R770. That means that Wii U will support DirectX 10 and will have more power than Microsoft or Sony's current systems. Also, I’m so sorry for referencing Home Improvement, but I can’t promise that it won’t happen again.
