I don’t think anything is as exciting to me as a solid 60 frames of animation per second. Today, a loading screen made me tingly simply because it looked so silky smooth. Psychiatrists have to have a word for that.
News Blips:

Modern Warfare 3 reaches $1 billion in sales after only 16 days. It took the movie Avatar 17 days to reach that same milestone. Sure, that's like comparing infants to iPads, but I don't think Bobby Kotick cares if a trillion people are paying a fraction of a penny or one person pays a billion. It all looks the same in a Swiss bank account. Don’t forget that these sales numbers don’t include the huge sum players spent buying the upgrade to Call of Duty Elite, which actually kind of works now. These titles may still be the jaded gamer's go to punching bag, but it's probably hard to feel insults with a flak jacket made out of stacks of one-hundred-dollar bills.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD will combine the best of the first two games for about $15. No new gimmicks, no weird plot, and no horse-crap motion controls -- just pure flip tricks and grinding with a focus on high scores and perfect controls. That’s what an HD skateboard game should be; too bad it took Activision imploding the genre to realize that. Also, beware my name on your leaderboard if you plan on getting this game. Ladies don’t know ‘bout my revert. [Destructoid]
Microsoft reportedly plans to flesh out its streaming television service with original programming of its own. Bloomberg found that the video-game company is looking for a former TV executive to come on board and helm this new facet of Xbox Live. With Netflix nailing down Arrested Development -- and even Microsoft taking a stab at getting Conan O’Brien after he left NBC -- video delivery is fragmenting and growing in an entirely new direction. Honestly, I don’t care. All I see in this is one more chance for someone to bring back Firefly.
Konami unites Metal Gear Solid’s web presence under one site. Metalgearsolid.com will connect players from Tokyo to Toledo to Hideo Kojima’s funky, futuristic military games. The new portal will feature interactive web games and a media player with trailers and production updates from the development team. Fans of the series can submit their own memories to a personal timeline which allows people to mark moments in the franchise that are important to them. I can’t wait to see all the nostalgia for when the president grabbed that one dude’s junk -- that was incredibly moving.
