I have found -- in my travels -- that mixing caffeine, ginkgo, fish oil, grams of vitamin-C, and Thai food is the quickest way to cure a cold. Now, if you’ll excuse me...BLAARRF!

News Blips:

News Blips: Shiggy isbestowing his golden touch on Super Mario 3D LandShigeru Miyamoto is directly involved with Super Mario 3D Land’s development. Steve Jobs was often referred to as “The Shigeru Miyamoto of phones and stuff.” OK, I don’t think that’s true, but it should be. Both men shared an attention to detail that others in their field strived to compete with. Thankfully, the creator of Zelda is bringing his unique set of intangibles to the latest Mario title. “I kept my distance from the project at first, but became more deeply involved midway -- I don’t think it’d be satisfying as a Mario game to everyone unless I made myself known on the little details,” the famed producer told Japanese magazine Famitsu. Miyamoto also explained that Super Mario 3D Land falls between the openness of the Super Mario Galaxy titles and the playability of the New Super Mario Bros. games. And then he put on a Tanooki Suit and floated away...all right, that’s not true either, but it should be. [1UP]

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection has a U.S. release date. Fans of Solid Snake will be happy to hear that his bundle of games will hit store shelves on November 8. The package will include the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, alongside HD versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Unfortunately, the increased pixel density probably won’t make the story any more intelligible.

Blizzard has over a dozen job listings for its “next-gen MMO.” The World of Warcraft developer’s Careers website has listings for a 3D Character Artist, an Art Outsourcing Manager, and a Senior Test Engineer, among others. It’s impossible to tell which game these positions are related to, but that won’t stop me from speculating. My guess is that this is all for a massively multiplayer game based on those wonderful Old Navy mannequin commercials. Or, y'know, that rumored Titan game. [GamePro]

Activision details exactly how much time of double XP a Mountain Dew is worth in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Put on some pajama pants and hop into your mother’s Ford Fiesta -- it’s time to get to Walmart for some MW3-branded Mountain Dew and Doritios. Why? Because that vile sugar water is worth its weight in double-experience-points minutes for the game’s online modes. Here’s a list of what each specially marked package is worth:

  • Mountain Dew 20 oz. bottle  = 15 minutes
  • Mountain Dew 12-pack = 45 minutes
  • Mountain Dew 20-pack from Walmart = 90 minutes
  • 32 oz. or 44 oz. Mountain Dew fountain cups = 15 minutes
  • 2.125 oz. or 2.875 oz. Doritos bags = 15 minutes
  • 11.5 oz. Doritos bag = 45 minutes
  • Family Size 17 oz. Doritos bag from Walmart = 90 minutes
  • Power Bonus (any Mountain Dew and Doritos combination) = 15 minutes

To be clear, it’s not required that you actually eat these products -- you simply need the included code. Also, you don’t need any proof that you have a family to purchase the Family Size Doritos...we all know you’re gonna cash that bag solo. A full list of participating items can be found here.
