I've been hearing music playing outside my window for the last hour. Hang on, I need to check this out. Oh, it’s just the PlayStation Network -- he’s back and is holding up a boom box playing Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.”
News Blips:
Sony details their “Welcome Back” package for PlayStation Network users. Sony and I are already cool. All I wanted was for them to refer to this program as “Welcome Back,” which gives me the perfect excuse to use the picture of my power animal -- Welcome Back, Kotter actor Gabe Kaplan -- for these News Blips. To make up for the way they’ve hurt you, Sony is giving PlayStation 3 owners the choice of any two of the following games for free:
Dead Nation
InFAMOUS
LittleBigPlanet
Super Stardust HD
Wipeout HD + Fury
Meanwhile, PSP owners can pick two from this list:
LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
ModNation Racers
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation
Mass Effect 3 will feature same-sex relationships for male characters as well as female characters. In a tweet, executive producer Casey D. Hudson said, “Happy to confirm [that Mass Effect 3] supports wider option for love interests including same-sex [relationships] for male and female characters reactive to how you interact with them in [the] game.” Previous games in the series allowed for male characters to only get all bow-chika-bow-bow with females and aliens, while females could do the same with males, aliens, or females. I’m just glad that Bioware broke through the technical barrier that was preventing them from implementing equality in Mass Effect’s choices -- that was what was holding this back, right?
Ubisoft Motion Pictures is working on Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell films. Everybody, stop worrying! The French are here to save video-game movies. The studio told Variety about their plans to adapt three of their own properties into feature-length movies. Each flick will be filmed in 3D, and the studio’s plans have attracted attention from Hollywood screenwriters. Studio head Jean-Julien Baronnet said that he “has been working with the games’ producers and Ubisoft’s marketing team to identify the DNA of each game and come up with storylines that are consistent.” I can help with that! Ghost Recon is all about future killing. Splinter Cell is primarily focused on shadowy killing. And Assassin’s Creed’s DNA is daylight killing, but real quiet-like. You’re welcome.
Dragon Age Legends gets a video-game remix. EA2D, the developer responsible for the Dragon Age Legends Facebook game, gave all of their game’s assets to Flash-game developer Pixelante. The results were Dragon Age Legends Remix 01. Pixelante created an action-packed, hack-n-slash adventure with leveling and a fairly deep combat system. Check it out now here.
