This week on Press Pause, we take a look at two new downloadable titles (one's great and the other...not so much). Hear our thoughts on tower-defense-action-role-playing-game hybrid Dungeon Defenders and side-scrolling puzzle/action title The War of the Worlds.

Great show. Great info. We need more shows like this. And it looks economically feasible to where it won't drive you bankrupt to produce; just some sweet and simple. Thumbs up.

Question about Dungeon Defenders:

How difficult is it? I am a hardcore gamer, but I will be playing with my 4-year-old and 6-year-old; so they'll help, but I'm not expecting a ton of help. Are we going to get slaughtered?

Haha, that's a very nice way of saying the set looks cheap. ;)

Dungeon Defenders is very, very tough. They may have trouble setting up the towers and traps, so maybe that's something you help them with during the build phase. If you play on casual and have them help with shooting, that may be more fun. You can do all the strategizing and building, while they provide supporting fire when the round starts. It's certainly colorful enough to appeal to kids, and they can completely customize their characters' looks/colors.

The hordes quickly overwhelm, so they might have more fun playing a ranged character (apprentice, huntress). If they're in close doing melee fighting, they'll probably die a lot (you'd have to know when to back off and heal if you're a hand-to-hand combatant).

If they stick with it, and I'm underestimating them, they'll have fun working together and eventually buying pets.

Thank you for the feedback on DD, Shoe.

Sure, the set looked cheap, but I really don't care about that. There's been a void ever since Co-op from Area 5 went under. I could tell from the beginning that as much as I loved Co-op, it probably took a lot of time and resources to put together. All I want is a show where some ex-EGMers that I trust talk about games. It doesn't need to be anything expensive or fancy. That was a great set up.
