This week on Press Pause, we discuss our favorite downloadable console games of all time. Guess which platform gets talked about the most and which one is least represented? Guest starring Brad Muir, the lead designer on Trenched at Double Fine Productions. (He wrote about his game's manly man's men's magazines on Bitmob, remember?)

My top, console, downloadable games (in no particular order, off the top of my head): Braid, PixelJunk Shooter, Eat Them!, Mushroom Wars, Savage Moon, Military Madness: Nectaris, Trash Panic (it's lots of fun, especially multiplayer!), Noby Noby Boy, Flow, Swords and Soldiers, and Fat Princess.

And I don't think you guys check PSN often enough; I get the impression that most titles have an available demo. But yeah, you're right that not all do, but the better known releases usually do.

(P.S. I hope you're enjoying Valkyria Chronicles, Dan!)

Ha, I don't know if you watched the video, but I went off on Trash Panic. :)

Just the other night, I was deciding between two old games to dust off: Valkyria Chronicles and Just Cause 2. I decided to go with JC2 just because it's more mindless, and that's what I needed. VC is still by my TV! I think I will probably start that over. It's been so long, I don't remember how to play it at all.

I did! That's why I left an extra note with the title, heh.

Don't bother starting over with Valkryia Chronicles -- just play a few skirmishes. I let my game sit for two years, and after several skirmishes, everything came back easily. And if you're near the end (like I was), you'll unlock new game plus!

ill be trying a lot more PSN titles coming soon - but I still want DEMOS of everything. The conversion rate for me is high...if I like the game even a smidgen I buy it a lot of  the time. So once that's more the norm for PSN i'll be all over reviewing those titles

Rather fine episode. As for the every two week thing, give it a try, and let us judge on the quality.

Sony doesn't require publishers/developers to offer demos for downloadable games like Microsoft does but I think Sony could get lots more business for its PS Store if Sony worked out a deal of some sort with publishers/developers to create more demos.

My favorite ones are Tomb Raider, Castle Crasher, Limbo, and Flow.

Agreed. Since 360's doing it, I think demos should be mandatory for all other platforms now.
