Deadpool at Anime ExpoThe Community Spotlight highlights some of the best articles that didn't quite make the front page. This week, we've got on-location photos from the Anime Expo in Los Angeles, thoughts on what it takes to "beat" a game, a blind swordsman's appearance in Mortal Kombat, and the future of handhelds. We might have a giant hamster ball in there, too. Maybe.

Video-game cosplayers invade Anime Expo
By Jonathan Oyama
Gaming characters at an anime convention? Believe it -- Jonathan's got the hard evidence, with costumes from Portal, Minecraft, and more making appearances. Plus a totally bitchin' Mike Haggar, complete with lead pipe.

To beat or not to beat: A slippery term
By Erik Chalhoub
I have trouble getting to the end of the main story in most games; I always seem to have something else to play. Erik says that "beating" something can be a subjective term...but he also says that "you can't truly beat a game until you have seen everything that it has to offer." So have I ever really "beaten" a game? Um, I'll get back to you on that.

Turn it up to 11: A Borderlands sequel wish list
By Evan Campbell
I was late to the Borderlands party, but I loved the game once I had a chance to play it. Evan's suggestions would definitely improve an already awesome experience. Customizable guns? Melee weapons? Transportation via hamster ball? All of the above, please.

Mortal Kombat DLC breakdown: Kenshi
By Michael Rousseau
Michael already analyzed new character Skarlet last month. Now he tackles Kenshi, a blind warrior with a sentient sword and telekinetic powers. Yeah...that sounds like a safe combination. Recommended "if you like fancy footwork and sudden bursts of action."

Handheld gaming is dead; long live the App Store?
By Chris Charlton
"Do we really want the home console experience in a handheld," Chris asks, "or do we want something different for our pockets?" It's a good question; games like Ocarina of Time 3D are undeniably cool in portable form, but they weren't designed for it. Maybe we should seek out unique handheld experiences...the kind the App Store has in spades.
