BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2
BlazBlue didn’t have a tournament at EVO 2010 due to a split between console players, who only had the first game, and arcade players, who were playing the much-improved sequel. One year and another update later this franchise with detailed sprite-based characters will finally hit the big stage with BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2.
This anime-flavored fighter is as over-the-top as the Vs. games, but offers more options like Drive Attacks that gives each character unique abilities and a “burst” mechanic that lets you escape combos. While many tournaments still hold BlazBlue competitions, they usually get little to no coverage on the online streams of big events. Thanks to the second EVO stream, you can get all the action here.
Tekken 6
The oldest game at EVO, Tekken 6 still has a devoted fanbase ready to duke it out. While the players for other series have had to adjust to balance changes and updates, these veterans have been training with the same tight gameplay balance for years. Now is your chance to watch the diehards who have stuck with this game at their best.
As the only true 3D fighter on the roster, Tekken’s gameplay is dominated by close-range battles. Every character has over a hundred moves, but veterans stick to a handful of go-to strikes that will let them mix-up foes and land damaging juggle combos. It's rare to see streams for Tekken unless it is dedicated to the game or showing Grand Finals, so this is a great chance to see early tournament action.
