It's time to vote for your favorite made-up, traffic-baiting story with a randomly generated headline!
A few weeks ago (sorry we're so late on this -- Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 beckoned), we discovered this random-headline generator that would produce story titles that eerily look like they could have come from real gaming websites. (We're not judging! We’re just sayin’.)
I shared our top 10 faves from a callout on Twitter and then asked our community writers to pen actual stories based on headlines they themselves have rolled. We received way, way too many excellent submissions, but I have narrowed them down.... (You can see the rest of them by searching “Random-Headline Challenge” on Bitmob.)
Here are the five finalists, in no particular order:
- Should Guitar Hero be a text adventure?
- How penguins could increase Donkey Kong's popularity
- Why StarTropics will lick StarTropics' face
- Should Mario be a corridor shooter?
- Top 10 most controversial plot twists in video games
(Please note that we haven't edited any of these pieces since we didn't promote them to the front page of Bitmob.)
Now, which one was your favorite?
Please read them all before you vote on the poll below (and please base your choice on the content itself, not how awesome the headline is -- they’re worth reading, trust me!). At the end of the week, the author with the most votes will win a free random game from the Bitmob collection, so choose carefully!
Update: The contest is now over. Congrats to Steven Sukkau for getting the most votes!
