“Countdown...that sounds fun,” said Jesse Herrera, aka Sensei Squushy, in response to my map suggestion. He has the southern drawl of a gentleman and the confidence of a killer. It sent a shiver down my spine.
We thought we had a pretty good squad. Prior to October 15’s first round in our Halo: Reach Tournament, my Echo Team kicked the pants off some other teams in matchmaking. Now, however, we knew we were up against the wall. Alpha, led by their captain, Herrera, absolutely dominated us.
They were so good, they would go on to win the tournament.
Congrats to Bitmob community members Jesse Herrera, Matthew Orona, Ben Brewer, and Cyr Ng. Your copies of the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition are on their way.
As Alpha Team, they nearly ran the table completely undefeated, with only one draw to mar their perfect record.
The name Sensei Squushy was whispered amongst the other teams in tones of revereance and terror. Even the 10-year Halo veteran (and Bitmob co-founder) Dan Hsu came out of his match proclaiming, “I fear Squushy.” Having the tournament’s undisputed MVP is a good start, but Herrera was joined by three great Halo players in Orona, Brewer, and Ng. Together, they were unbeatable.
We’d like to thank everyone who joined in the fun -- and keep an eye out for future Bitmob gaming events!
