Atari Flash Games: Get Even Less Done at Work

We'd say that Atari's website has joined the 21st century, but offering games this low-tech isn't exactly what we'd call "cutting edge." Playing Flash re-creations of these classic Atari titles is pretty cool, and the office-work distraction factor is high. At Atari.com, you can play the arcade versions of Asteroids, Crystal Castles, Battlezone, and Lunar Lander, as well as the highly underrated Atari 2600 games Adventure and Yars' Revenge [via Technabob]:

These titles have been available for years in a number of formats, but they've never been presented as easily accessible Flash games on the developer's website. Atari even added global high score leaderboards so you can compare your geek level with the world. There's no word on future titles, but we can't wait for blockbuster games like E.T. and Raiders of the Lost Ark to hit and frustrate a new generation of gamers.

Oh my god, I can't even understand how Yar's Revenge even works. How did people manage to play this in the arcade? The music is creepy, too.
