Bitmob Wants You: To Write About Blur, Split Second, and ModNation Racers

Rarely do we get so many notable titles this early in the year. Blur, Split Second, and ModNation Racers are three of those games -- they've had racing fans and mainstream gamers buzzing for weeks.

While they are different games with very different mechanics, they do share many elements. Blur and Split Second pair realistic graphics with wildly imaginative powerups, and ModNation Racers intends to do for kart racers what LittleBigPlanet did for platformers.

We want you, the Bitmob Community, to write about these games. Feature any of the three -- or write about all of them!

We're not looking for conventional reviews. We want you place these games in a wider perspective or take a look under the hood and tell us what works and what doesn't.

Here are a few questions to help you start your engines (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist):

  • Does the release of these games signal a kart-racer renaissance?

  • What effect do these games have on online racing?

  • Does Mario Kart have anything to worry about?

  • What core mechanic works best: Blur's item-based combat, Split Second's environmental havoc, or ModNation Racers' creation tools? Do any of these show us the future of kart racers?

  • What are some of your favorite experiences in these games?

To join in, follow these simple instructions:

1) Write any article related to Blur, Split Second, or ModNation Racers. Keep it concise -- about 200-400 words should do it. You can write longer if you choose.

2) Use the following tags: "Blur," "Split Second," and "ModNation Racers" -- and don't forget to tag any other games you mention.

3) Submit your article to the Mobfeed by Wednesday, June 23, 2010.

Friendly reminder for our ongoing callout: You have until June 16 to submit your Red Dead Redemption articles.

Blur has been indefinately denied from being sold on Steam in almost every single country except US because Activision signed some massive exclusivity deal with several big retailers. I was thinking of writing an article about that.

Its particularly wtf-ish because they've tried to cover up the whole thing by forcing Valve to initally remove the buy button on its page on Steam and then eventually remove links to the page entirely.

Hmm... I might resurrect an article I left for dead for this, even though it wasn't really about racing games.
