My girlfriend got me one of those special edition Zelda 3DSes for Christmas. Unfortunately, my lengthy Mario Kart 7 sessions have made it difficult to pay off the coupons I gave her for “three hours of non-stop eye contact.”
News Blips:
GameFly’s PC and Mac clients are available to download now. The rental company has long been a favorite solution for console gamers on a budget, but it hasn’t really tapped into the PC market. GameFly is hoping to change that by offering a software portal where PC users can manage their queue, as well as buy and rent games. As a supplement, GameFly subscribers will get access to over 200 PC titles at no additional charge. Users can download and play these games at will as long as they maintain an active membership.. The Unlimited PC Play library is more of a bonus, as many of the games are several years old and won’t be enough to sway the previously unconvinced to throw down at least $16 a month. You can head here to get the download.
The Star Wars Kinect game will, of course, have a dancing minigame. When Yoda said: “Luminous beings are we,” he was obviously referencing Ke$ha and her sweet moves. The ESRB descriptors have revealed that the developers are working hard to remain true to the Force’s dogmatic cha-cha numbers. “In the dancing mini-game, some female characters perform suggestive moves (e.g., gyrating their hips/buttocks) and wear revealing outfits (partially exposed cleavage/buttocks),” said the ESRB in justifying the Teen rating for the 2012 title. Spoilers! Now I know that the aliens have cleavage and buttocks to gyrate and expose. [ShackNews]
Steam is discounting game prices in what I am dubbing a “Steam Sale.” If my economics class taught me anything it was to never wash towels and corduroy slacks in the same cycle…or maybe that was home economics. I can’t remember. I was drunk. Apparently, the team at Valve learned a different lesson: Sales are nature’s greatest wallet lubricant. The promotion is on now and will last through January 1, 2012.
Notch created Minicraft in only 48 hours, and you can play it now. The Minecraft creator participated in the Ludum Dare 22 competition (in which developers spend a weekend building a game from scratch) and came up with a familiar formula. Minicraft -- notice the spelling -- charges players with collecting resources and creating tools with the end purpose of killing an evil wizard. It’s a simple and pixelated title, but then again, Notch created it in the same amount of time it took me to hang up two strands of Xmas lights. Play it here.
