HBO is producing a half-hour sitcom based on the documentary Indie Game: The Movie. I expect it will basically be the Sex and the City of the video-game world...only without the sex.

News Blips: Square Enix trademarks new Final Fantasy titleSquare Enix registers a trademark for Final Fantasy Dimensions. I cannot abide this dearth of Final Fantasy titles. Final Fantasy 13-2Final Fantasy Type-0, and Final Fantasy Versus 13 just aren’t enough to keep away my night terrors. Thankfully, the Japanese publisher is planning another game in the series. “Dimensions” could suggest a 3DS entry, but then it would be silly to name a game after a gimmick. Square Enix would never get silly or weird in naming its games. Now where is my copy of Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy? Oh, it was under Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. [Siliconera]

Ubisoft will release the 3DS version of Rayman Origins on February 17. In the process of adding a third dimension, I expect that the colorful platformer will lose a bit of its visual fidelity, but as long as the delightful soundtrack remains intact, I’ll be happy. Rayman Origins was critically acclaimed during its launch on the home consoles, but it released right in the midst of the fall’s deluge of new games and was perhaps slightly overlooked by holiday shoppers. The Parisian publisher probably hopes that the latest entry in its long-running franchise will find more traction in the portable market now that release schedule has slowed down.

The planned lineup of Mass Effect 3 action figures will include codes that are redeemable for in-game items. According to the BioWare Store, the pack-in bonuses that come bundled with the officially licensed toys will be “slightly randomized” and could provide new characters or weapons. “The pack could also include character boosters, weapon modifications, and weapon upgrades to make your multiplayer squad stronger,” reads the BioWare Store website. This specific downloadable content will only be applicable to the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the interstellar role-playing game. The figures will be on sale in April or May. If you notice that you’re getting outpaced in multiplayer during a spring shower, just assume that you’re playing with someone who owns a shelf full of plastic aliens. [Joystiq]

I want the Mass Effect 3 figures so that when I do live streams or videos people can say things like "Wow, I like your Mass Effect 3 figures" and "Cool, you have Mass Effect 3 figures". Everyone will be excited, I'm excited.

When will people stop buying Final Fantasy? The people that complain because there are too many and it's getting contrived are the same people that buy each new iteration because "it's out, I may as well get it.".

Haha. Ironically, I think that's the reason why I own so many Final Fantasy games. It's like a mega epic that never stops turning more impossibly epic. Whether it's an epic success or an epic fail is entirely up to all the people who buy it.

So, Bioware's going the route of collectible card games? Disappointing.

They should have just made Mass Effect: Pokemon edition. Then I could play multiple Commander Shepherds to kill off Matriarch Benezia. And I wouldn't have to level up so often.
