Call me crazy, but I'm way more interested in playing an iPhone port of Secret of Mana than the 23rd rerelease of Final Fantasy 1 and 2.
News Blips:
Square Enix plans to release an iPhone version of the Super Nintendo classic Secret of Mana. Producer Masaru Oyamada wrote on the company's official Facebook page that "the actual release date is still 'secret' but we'll release it soon in[sic] this month." The iOS version of the action RPG features an updated interface and improved graphics. Oyamada did not give a price for the title nor did he confirm whether it'll support 3-player co-op like the original. Speaking of which, did any of you ever get two friends, three controllers, and a Super Multitap together to actually play the original's multiplayer?
Treyarch will release the first round of downloadable Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer maps, titled First Strike, sometime in February. Producer Dan Bunting, speaking to Xbox Live's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb on his podcast, revealed that Treyarch plans to offer four new maps for $15. Now, let us use this time to remind everyone about the dangers of addiction, video-game abuse, and co-dependancy....
The Los Angeles Times reports that Microsoft isn't a fan of the Kinect sex game from Austria-based game maker ThriXXX. A Microsoft spokesperson emphasizes that they "did not authorize or license its technology for this use. Xbox is a family friendly games and entertainment console and does not allow Adults Only (AO) content to be certified for use on its platform, and would not condone this type of game for Kinect." In other words, no console maker wants its system associated with a creepy sex game intended for perverted, socially awkward men.
The Humble Indie Bundle #2 is now for sale via digital distribution platforms Steam and Desura. Two of the five games in the bundle, Cortex Command and Revenge of the Titans, aren't available on Steam just yet, but Humble Bundle Inc. promises that they'll be "added to your library once they make their Steam debut." For more information on how to pick up the Humble Indie Bundle #2 -- which includes indie-game hits Braid and Machinarium -- for however much you want to pay (or donate to charity), check out HumbleBundle.com.
