Mass Effect 3 only just came in the mail, but I’m going to write these blips anyway. Not because I used up all my Bitmob sick days for Skyrim, but because I used up all my vacation days for Skyrim. I used up all my sick days for a Toddlers and Tiaras marathon.
News Blips:
Apple announces that the New iPad will have a high-resolution screen, a quad-core graphics processor, and will launch on March 16. The device’s display will be 2048 by 1356 or a total of more than 3.1 million pixels. That’s a lot. Apple claims that the new A5X chipset (which powers its latest slate) has four times the power of Nvidia’s latest Tegra 3 processor. All of this combines to make the most capable Apple tablet yet in terms of gaming. Preordering is open now with prices starting at $499 for the 16GB model.
Epic Games unveils Infinity Blade: Dungeons which will take advantage of the iPad's shiny new screen. According to the developer, Dungeons will act as a “prologue” to the previous two Infinity Blade iOS titles. Gamers will take the role of an apprentice weaponsmith who sets out to forge the titular blade. The mobile game seems to fit the mold of a Marvel: Ultimate Alliance with lots of hacking, slashing, and hammering. In my opinion, a prequel showing how the Infinity Blade came to be is a winning idea. Spoiler warning: I heard that it’s made out of midichlorians. Check out the trailer below.
Electronic Arts lists the system requirements for the recently announced SimCity sequel. Maxis is working on a reboot of the game that started the Sim/Sims phenomenon, and now we know what kind of rig the developer has in mind for potential urban planners:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+
2GB of RAM (Windows Vista/7)
1.5GB of RAM (Windows XP)
ATI X1800 or nVidia 7800
Despite SimCity’s 2013 release date, even today’s weaker system will be able to handle those specs. That’s great; I want my grandma to be able to build up towns and then burn them to the ground with wildfire on her eMachine. She loves that.... My grandma is kinda scary.
