After spending hours on hours through blood, sweat and slim jims do you get that final trophy and BAM! Platinum trophy. The sense of pride and accomplishment over comes one...well, at least that's what I think.
You see, I personally don't have any platinum trophies. I'd be even hard press to say I have 10 golds. But what I do have is almost 1500 (impressive, I know). It's not that I can't do it because I totally rock, it's the fact I haven't come across a game that will make me play it until I get a platinum.
Lets look at Uncharted 2. Sure its won GOTY and I'm sure Nolan got a few bejers out of it but lets face it, there is noway in hell i'm going around collecting 100 what? Fuckin' plates and dishes?!?! Come on, I got better things to do then to spend hours looking for something the developers probably took a day to do.
There was one game this year that almost made me go that extra mile (or kilometer -GO CANADA GO-) and that was Batman. Going around collecting riddlers clue was one of the best parts of playing the Bat. Rocksteady could have not done a better job then to give the fans 241 references throughout the whole game. I lost my mind when I found dead guards at the poker table because it was both an accomplishment and reward. Long after I've beaten the game did I continue playing just to see what that bastard The Riddle was up to.
Other then that, no other game has come close to making me play until I got 100%.
That being said, how does that rate me as a playstation player? I don't own a xbox, well not yet (waiting for the new version) but my gamer score would be through the roof. I don't feel justice if some punk kid, probably listening to that rock and roll gest a platinum in Disney's UP. It's just wrong. Sony really dropped the ball on this one.
And in answer to my question...
I'd give up all my trophies except one (SF4 - win 10 online - That's a keeper) for 1 point.
