It started with an all-retro edition of our Mobcast. Then it rolled over into last week's edition of Press Pause. Today, we continue the old-school talk on Press Pause, discussing why we're still drawn to old-timey graphics. Starring Alex Neuse of Gaijin Games (Bit.Trip series), host Carlos Rodela, and...me!

Give it a watch and listen, and let us know in the comments below if you still dig retro graphics or if you'd rather go all shiny and 3D and stuff.

Alex Neuse does look like a cool guy. I like the concept of "retro gameplay."

You nailed it Dan, the old-schoolers like us like to see the come back of 8-bit masterpieces. That's what it was all about back then -- the gameplay, the fun, the Co-op -- all of these conceive what makes games what they are today. It makes me smile when I see retro-games come back on the XBLA /PSN; it sure brings back memories. I bought the Wii for one sole-purpose: The Virtual Console.

But the thing is, technology is changing in a super-haste, and it advances much more faster than back in the day. Look at the I-Phones, computers, I-Pads, and now the consoles -- they're getting better and better and the industry establishes new gadgets seemingly every other month (well, not that much, but close enough).

Graphic-wise, the current generation didn't grow up with the NES/SNES days like I did. I recently played with my friend's younger brother on Tecmo Throwback. I put the classic graphics into effect, and he snickered and wasn't too pleased with how the game looked . I had to explain to him that, this what made it, the game itself, and why it was so freakin' awesome. Forget graphics, its simplicitiy concentrated on having a good time -- not on how "sexy" it looked.

Guess that makes me and old fart as well (but much younger than any of you). : )

Three things:
1) Loved the conversation. BIT.TRIP games are fantastic - go play them if you haven't.
2)"Eisode"?
3) Go Blue!
