Puzzler: Guess the light-gun games

Remember when light-gun games were all the rage? Me neither, but some of those titles made a killing at the arcades, and every home console has had some type of gun peripheral.

Take a look at the following screenshots of shooters, and name as many as you can. Don't worry about your safety; you're under Bitmob's witness protection program.

I played a hell of a lot of #8 in the arcades. How can a teenage guy possibly resist an arcade cabinet with an Uzi attached to it?

Plus it has the word "wolf" in the title. That animal makes everything look cool.

The NES version was truly hardcore. I can't believe they expected me to shoot all of those enemies with a Zapper. I think it wore out my index finger back in the days.

Safari Hunt! :)

Duck Hunt was shit compared to Safari Hunt.

damn right! :)  loved playing them both, but you can only shoot so many ducks :P

Oh man I think I had all of Virtua Cop memorized.

How long since you last played it? Those killer instincts might still be there.

Oh lord, years...  I got it with my Saturn and was able to perfect most levels without the light gun.

I haven't played Saturn in ages, but I still have it so I would be interested to see if any of it stuck.

"Reload" is forever burned in my head though.

I think I played the original Lethal Enforcers more than Virtua Cop. It's probably because I never owned a Saturn. I know....

"Eat led, copper!" was my favorite LE quote.

Ha, a lot of people would disagree and say the fact you never had a Saturn was a good thing.  I absolutely loved mine...

I never really got into LE.  Always wanted to.  Those guns looked damn good when I was 15.

Cool list, Samir! The ones I was able to get were:

1.    Virtua Cop (Played it at an arcade in the mall.)
2.    Hogan's Alley (From reading about it on the NES Player's Guide.)
3.    Area 51 (Played it at Lamppost Pizza's arcade.)
4.    Lethal Enforcers 2: Gun Fighters (Same as above.)
5.    The House of the Dead (Played the arcade at the mall.)
7.    Revolution X (Read about it on EGM and GamePro.)
8.    Operation Wolf (Played it at Round Table Pizza's arcade.)
10.    Safari Hunt (Came bundled with the Master System when my parents bought it for me.)

Impressive. Congratulations on not knowing #9. I hear that game started the "epic fail" meme.

#9 was the funniest one. I didn't know that so many of those criminals were toting around rocket launchers. Lol.

Man, I really wanted to unlock all of the secret minigames in that one.

In case Samir is wondering, I got them all. Well, technically I researched some of them over the Internet. But I know I've seen most of them somewhere.

#9 was epic, because of all those awkward FMV sprites.

:D

The criminal mastermind behind #9's plot (did it have one?) was a genius. Giving machine guns to all the night guards at the exploding barrel factory is a fantastic idea.

Brilliant idea! I think #9 was funnier than #3 because it tried to use actual people. I had more fun watching them die in a bloody explosion(?) after I killed them. I never knew that guns were this explosive in real life. Lol.

On another note, I really don't want to remember #7. Lol. My big brother still thinks it's one of the coolest light gun games ever made. I dunno. That game gave me nightmares of El Vira, weird battles with giant snakes, and freaking Stephen Tyler.

And then there's all those strange hidden passages. For some reason, I could shoot out Aerosmith's dressing room. Ogh...

Number 7 taught us an important lesson: Aerosmith's music kills people.

You could actually shoot compact discs at the bad guys, remember? Steven Tyler must be turning in his grave.

My goodness, explosive compact discs. Lol. Really, who the hell even thought of this game?

I mean, it was an improvement over T2, but I'm not sure if it was the right one. Lol. And then there's those strip dancers and...they throw all the logic out of the window.

This video sums up most of the weirdness of this game.

I got them all. I was a huge light-gun fan.

The list probably could have used Police 911, Point Blank, Zombie Raid, and Police Trainer.

And maybe Gunblade NYC and LA Machineguns.

You are dangerous....

I had to save some games for the sequel. :)
