Section 8: Predjudice - Multiplayer FPS with potential that was cut short

When I first heard about this game it had me excited for one reason- it was $15. I could get an online FPS with progression and unlocks, not to mention a neat respawning feature (drop from the atmosphere onto anywhere on the map) for less than Modern Warfare on sale!

Section 8: Prejudice Drop

Visually, it looked like some cross between Halo and Crysis with the armored suits all players sported, and was a nice change of pace for me from my usual go-to of Team Fortress 2 while still not being a deathmatch game.

But now I can't find anybody to play it with after being busy for a few months, and I think I know why.

Shortly after the game was released, TimeGate released a map pack. This had the effect of splitting up the community, even though it is only $4.49, it was released far too soon after the release of the game. Not to mention that some people, myself included, balk at the idea of paying for maps on the PC when other games don't sell anything of the sort- letting the community create and share maps as they wish. They also sold a weapon pack for a bit less, which doesn't divide the community quite so literally, it does create an advantage for some.

Section 8: Prejudice Gameplay shot

This alone however, wasn't enough to discourage people from playing- only months after release, an 'optimal build' was found which was hard to play against, which was was not addressed for a good length of time, and to be frank I'm not sure if it has even now. The number of players who are online is low enough that I don't see any discussion on the topic at all, as nobody is interested in playing anymore.

After all this- the lack of players isn't as huge as an issue as it could be! Servers can be populated with bots, and playing against them isn't that bad except for one thing- you can't advance in rank against bots unless the servers have enough human players. When finding a game with any human players is currently hard to do- this is further discouragement to play the game.

Have I missed something (or just plain misinformed)? Do you think anything can be done about this state of affairs? Tell me in the comments!
