Variety is the theme of today's Community Spotlight. We take a look at Disney's further venture into gaming with Epic Mickey, why video game award shows might not be the best idea, and how RPG Maker might stand a chance in this current generation of networking consoles.

Travis McReynolds continues his adventures in Japan with a stop at the Square Enix store, while Frank Anderson capitalizes on Brütal Legend's success in order to give a shout out to the underrated Canadian band, Anvil.

Lance wraps things up with his Twitterview of J. Cosmo Cohen.

What Does it Mean When Mickey Chooses Games Over Films?
By Jeffrey Michael Grubb
Disney's updating their image. With the acquisition of Marvel, the company shows a desire to move beyond their obsession with various princesses and play to the interests of boys as well. Where does Mickey Mouse fit in all of this? Disney's revamp comes with another surprising twist -- a return to Mickey's platforming days in the curiously named Epic Mickey.

Video Game Awards - Determining the Process
By Gerren Fisher
Every year game sites, and now television networks, compile their best-of lists and hand out awards. Journalism-centric sites prefer to poll their staff and award games based on professional criticism. The television networks poll fans for their decisions. If game awards are necessary, which method is better? Gerren examines the process and offers his side of the argument.

RPG Maker: Years Ahead of Convenience
By Alex R. Cronk-Young
RPG Maker seemed like a good idea when it rolled out for the PlayStation. What Alex didn't expect was the endless field of menus, data entry, and the search for expensive add-ons that would only be used to transfer save data. RPG Maker came before the "create and share" revolution started by Little Big Planet. Alex believes that RPG Maker work well now thanks to the states of current consoles and the progress made in networking.

My Trip to Japan: Odaiba and Shibuya
By Travis McReynolds
We've run Travis' trip to Japan a bit out of order, but here is another segment of his lengthy excursion. Team McReynolds suffers the side effects of too much Japanese beer, meet the Tokyo Tower Nippon Twins, and experience the beauty of the Square Enix store. Sephiroth's never looked so awesome.

The Story of Anvil: The Movie Any Brütal Legend Fan Should See
By Frank Anderson
Bitmob's a video game site, but interesting stories come in all shapes and sizes. Taking his cue from the buzz around Brütal Legend, Frank thinks that if you're digging the music in the game, you might be interested in Anvil. Who are Anvil, you ask? Why, they're a tragically underappreciated Canadian band that had a considerable influence on Metallica.

A Twitterview with J. Cosmo Cohen
By Lance Darnell
J. Cosmo Cohen is a pretty familiar name around these parts. He started the Bitmob Game Club and just barely trails behind Toby Davis and Lance Darnell for the number of comments left in stories. Lance hits on the real issue, though -- what does the J stand for?
