Like many bizarre console accessories, the Game Boy Camera never really caught on in the U.S. It was prohibitively expensive and the paper for the printers was a scarce commodity.

The U.S. marketing was just all wrong. The Japanese accessory came with this spiffy paper hat worn by the device's mascot [via Tiny Cartridge]:

See, isn't it precious? Of course, sales cannot really be swayed by the inclusion of an origami time-waster.

Hit the jump for the mascot and pre-folded hat image.

That's pretty funny.

I had a lot of fun with the Game Boy Camera.  I just looked it up on wikipedia and found this gem:

Ah, good old wikipedia.
