BYOT banner

You've been bugging us about bringing back the old Mobcast, so here it is, under the new name of BYOT (for Bring Your Own Topic)!

Because GamesBeat was able to find a sponsor for our podcast, we're able to revive it, but we changed the name since "Mobcast" fit better with "Bitmob," and Bitmob will soon be moving completely over to GamesBeat. Makes sense, right?

For the pilot episode, the GamesBeat crew (two of whom have been on Mobcast before) talk about the good, bad, and downright crappy in gaming in 2012 (so far). Give it a listen and let us know what you think. And if you dig it and would like to help us spread the word, we're giving out some sweet prizes, including i7 Core Processors, video games, and more. Check out the show for more details.

Whew, I thought I was gonna get blasted for saying that's a game worth championing. :)

Big big thanks for reviving the podcast. It was the original and biggest reason for me to visit Bitmob in the first place and although this is a great site... I have felt like it was missing something. For me personally at least.

Will give it a listen as soon as I can.

As a fellow gaming podcaster, albeit on a much smaller scale, I am adding this to my RSS aggregator immediately.

When you guys mentioned remakes, I couldn’t help but comment. I thought the original Perfect Dark was a nifty idea, because it seemed fit for Xbox (with Xbox Live). No, it didn’t need to be “remade,” but the multiplayer was still enjoyable since it took the split-screen away via online.

I also enjoy remakes. If there’s any one that stands out, it’s Capcom’s Resident Evil for the GameCube. It was reinvented. And not to bash the original, but the GameCube title put the classic PlayStation title to shame.

I’d like to see more original franchises brought back, if done correctly. Some games can’t live up to its name nowadays, but with proper improvements, or certain “evolution face-lifts”, I’d play them again.

Oh, and forget about GoldenEye Reloaded. You guys didn’t mention it, but taking Rare’s N64 shooter and turning into a Call-of-Duty style FPS won’t win back its fans.

They keep wanting to capitalize on the GoldenEye name, and none of the new ones have recaptured that magic. I'm not sure you can anymore, because part of the original's appeal was great 4P local play, which wasn't common for shooters back then.

Shoe,

The new name of the podcast is great. It's nice to see it back, and I'm really looking forward to this new GamesBeat/BitMob amalgamation.

Thank you for continuing to support the community. You are the champion of the neophytes.
