I’ve been playing Brink since yesterday, and it’s a lot of fun so far. I’m a heavy soldier with an intimidating disposition and a thirst for the blood of the Rebellion. I blow holes through walls to help my team reach their objectives, and I use my minigun on anything that dares to get in my way. That’s right; I’m bad.
Video Blips:
• If you’ve been craving a fast and frantic shooter with customization up the wazoo, worry not, because Brink launches tomorrow. If you happen to be playing with someone who dry humps dead bodies and blurts out the F-word whenever he dies, then you’re probably playing with me. Yes, I fit the stereotype of the typical Xbox Live player.
Continue after the break for a parkour comparison between Brink and Daniel Ilabaca, a look at the art of From Dust, and a glimpse into the kooky world of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.
• Brink’s SMART system works pretty well and gives you ceaseless speed across the map...if you’re skilled enough. I suck at parkour, unfortunately -- both in game and in person. I have about as much grace as an eagle that has been sucked into a jet engine.
• From Dust gives the player god-like powers over the forces of nature in order to protect the inhabitants of a small, lowly island. When I first saw this game, it instantly reminded me of Black & White. Here’s hoping it’ll give me the ability to hurl villagers into the ocean and have my creature shit on their cottages. That’s more fun than it sounds, trust me.
• In case you’re too impatient to wait for the release of the new film in theaters, you can experience the entire journey of On Stranger Tides in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. Just when I thought it was impossible for Disney to make the violent and murderous world of piracy any more endearing, alas, I am proven wrong. I’m sure whenever Calico Jack raised his Jolly Roger, his victims were expecting slapstick comedy.
