As January comes to a close, these blips remind us of just how many fighting games are coming out soon. Among all of the videos today, we did get one trailer for a title that isn't a fighter, I Am Alive.

Video Blips:

• This trailer reveals the isolation and obstacles you'll face in Ubisoft's new apocalyptic title, I Am Alive. I was surprised to see that this will be a digital release. Let's hope it fairs well so we can keep getting more new ideas.

Hit the break for your dose of fighter-based media, including a preview of a new character in Skullgirls, a look at Tekken director Harada playing Soul Calibur 5, and an update on Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

• We've known about the existence of Skullgirls' craziest character's existence for some time, but developer Reverge Labs hadn't revealed a trailer for her. Now you can appreciate her...and holy crap. What is going on with her at the end?

• It's only one more week until the release of Soul Calibur 5. If you haven't had your fill with trailers yet, watch Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada give the game a try. It's too appropriate that he chooses a custom fighter with Devil Jin's fighting style.

• If you aren't excited for the PS Vita version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, then maybe you'd like to stay informed on what's going on in the console scene. This video talks about the surge in popularity in using Spider-Man on your team and analyzes some online fights.

I'm definitely more interested in I Am Alive than The Last of Us. No mutants!

I was surprised to hear about I Am Alive going digital, too. I hope that doesn't mean the publishers have no faith in it. Or perhaps it will end up being episodic?

I would lose any interest in I Am Alive if it went episodic. The concept screams open-ended, not linear narrative.
