Android Recommendation -- Gravity Tow

Spider-Man has yet to swing over to the Android Market. Until Marvel decide to port Ultimate Mayhem from iPhone (don't hold your breath), this is the closest you'll get on Android devices.

But even though Gravity Tow looks nothing like a spandex-clad young mutant swinging through New York City, it feels just like it.

Here's how it works:

  • You control a space ball, and can grapple to different space balls by touching them. (Oh, grow up.)
  • You use your grapple to climb as high as possible with Spider-Man-like motion.
  • Fall off the bottom of the screen and you explode.
  • Touch a ball and you explode. (I told you to stop snickering.)

When physics conspire to rob you of upwards momentum, you'll find yourself frantically scrabbling for a foothold.

When you're in the zone, though, it's exhilarating. Like Canabalt or Dolphin Olympics 2, that moment is hard to hold on to. Rapidly rocketing upwards is the way to score high, but your grip feels tenuous. All it takes is a tiny mis-judgement for you to crash in an inexplicably loud explosion, bringing your run to an end.

Seriously, that explosion noise is annoying. That's the only real problem I have, though, so here's a QR code for the free version of the game. (You'll need the Barcode Scanner or Google Googles apps to scan it.) See if you can beat my score of 8695 meters.

Cameron is slowly selling me on Android. But I've invested too much money in my iPhone v.v.... Those barcodes. My school paper is littered with them.

If Goggles or the Barcode Scanner read Microsoft Tags, I'd use those. They're much prettier.
