Can We Have The Criterion Collection For Video Games Please?

With the release of the PS2 God of War games that were upgraded for the PS3 with HD graphics and both games on 1 blu-ray disc, it got me wondering?

What if other publishers decided to do this for there classic PS2 games?

Interesting thought eh?

What games would you love to play again, only this time in HD and with 5.1. I would love to see Silent Hill 2 or ZOE get this.

So here's the 5 games I most want to see be treated like the God Of War series has.

  • Zone Of The Enders
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Onimusha 3 (hell even an Onimusha Collection would be great)
  • Final Fantsay X
  • Persona 3

I got this off of site called scrawlfx. While they are mock ups, they look pretty cool. These three I would like to see get the treatment.

If you're talking just playstation, then ZoE and Kingdom Hearts definitely. Also Ape Escape 1&2 (3 is optional), and the .hack series.

If the flood gates are open, add KoTOR 1&2 and Arx Fatalis to the list.

Being a Neo Geo fan, I would love to see a HD revival of some of their older fighting games. They've released a few compilations over the years on PS2 and even XBLA, but a full-on high-res remake with online play is probably beyond SNK's current financial means. It also wouldn't appeal to very many Americans besides myself and the Japanese have yet to embrace HD gaming, so that's a dead-end I'm afraid.

I'm think DragonQuest VIII would be awesome in HD. The game was immediately one of the best looking games on PS2 and an HD upgrade would be amazing

I prefer the remake fad that seemed to come and, sadly, go a few years ago. The upgraded visuals in the GoW collection were cooll, but the cinemas not being upgraded as well was a big let down.

How about going away from console gaming and to a beloved PC series -- the X-Wing games.

I don't think we will ever have a Criterion collection of games. Partly because of the amount of licenses and rights tied up in any given game, and also because we can't even agree on an "Oscars" for games.

FantaVision deserves an HD remake. I can't think of what could go alongside it in a double-pack, though.

Anyone remember the NeoGAF thread full of Criterion photoshops? If there is going to be one, they should start there.

But I imagine with the rerelease of a bunch of games online, this won't happen unless for huge games.

I'm all for the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus bundle to become a reality. SotC is just sitting on my shelf collecting dust b/c I had to sell my PS2 to afford the PS3.

Besides that, the Champions of Norrath games would be perfect on PS3!
