Macy's Proves Once Again How Hardcore They Are about Gaming

Everybody knows where the hardcore gamers shop. GameStop? Nope. Best Buy? Nuh uh. If your hobby is about using a controller and a television, you know the first place to come to mind when talking about video games is Macy's....right?

At the tail end of a press release touting incredible back-to-school specials on clothes (including some great new celebrity collections for juniors), Macy's advertises that the Xbox invasion starts July 15. Next week, you will have to fight your way through middle-aged women in the panty-hose display to find a special Kinect demo station in Macy's stores throughout the U.S. [via CrunchGear]:

The retailer is also giving away one Kinect per day at macys.com/mstylelab between August 12 and September 10. Don't bother going to that address now, though, unless you want to get in on the fun of "fashion videos with the latest trends." Be sure to check out Nordstrom next year, when they will be the first department store ever to host E3.

You got jokes. Telling you right now, Macy's about to turn into The Lonely Island's "Boombox" video.

Just hopefully not the third verse. I think I just scarred myself for life.

As the founder of the Nordstrom clothing store, I resent your underhanded jab at my company.

If anything, we're hosting next year's Comic-Con.

Macy's actually used to sell video games (I assume they stopped at one point but I really don't know). Way back when I was a kid and was stuck going to the mall with my mother and sister, I'd spend much time in that store. They had an electronics department with TVs and Sega Master System games. I don't recall if they carried Nintendo games or not.

"If your hobby is about using a controller and a television..."

I thought Kinect was all about not using a controller
