Very few people know what it truly takes to make a video game, and even fewer people know the blood developers sweat over low-budget productions. Indie Game: The Movie is for those who still think interactive entertainment is as fun and easy to make as it is to play.
Video Blips:
• Most of you will recognize some of the titles and faces seen in this trailer. In my opinion, the one thing games truly lack is insight into the minds of designers -- in the form of DVD-esque bonus features. I’m glad the filmmakers found such info just as valuable.
After the break, experience a provocative love triangle in Catherine, Kinect with your darker side in Rise of Nightmares, and experience the “ultimate 8-bit adventure” in Little Cave Hero.
• I’m a bit confused...Catherine seems more like an interactive hentai than anything else. It reminds me of those cheap anime games where the goal was to woo and screw the “innocent” schoolgirl. And don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about; I’m not the only male here with Internet access.
• Rise of Nightmares looks pretty convincing...until you learn that it’s for the Kinect. I’m not sure how scary this will be if you’re standing and waiting for the monsters to come to you. Imagine the suspense when Rise of Nightmares creeps around corners for you...spooky.
• Little Cave Hero reminds me an awful lot of another popular title that has you mining for minerals and building custom structures. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. It just means that to-scale replica of Minas Tirith that you built in Minecraft will be a waste.
