Let's see how well a high-schooler can write
I began writing a few FAQS here and there on GameFAQS.
I was in high school at the time and it was the summer of July. It was fun because the Resident Evil 2 FAQ was my first guide I wrote and it was my favorite game at the time -- still one of them for that matter.
Sure, at first (and for awhile) it was a hobby for me; I was still young and didn't know what the future held for me. After reading and subscribing to EGM for so many years, the reviews and the "Rest of the Crap" were my favorite sections. And then I thought to myself: "Why the hell wouldn't I want a job like this."
Right here on Bitmob is where it is at. Never in a magazine could you write your own article and hope at some point it make the front page.
It's cool to use this TV that plays these things called "games"
My gaming began, believe it or not, with the Atari 2600.
It belonged to my sister, although when I came into this world in 1984, I quickly took it away and hogged it like no tomorrow.
Pac-Man was the first game I ever played and it was a joy manipulating the yellow-ball character. Ironically, it was my father who showed me how to master it and eat some fruit while ghost figures simultaneously wanted to, well, end your spree.
Soon after we welcomed a new member of our family: The Nintendo Entertainment System.
I was only four when I met this classic-beautiful-grey machine. I stared into its eyes when we first opened it, instantly I felt like I found my new best friend. Pretty sad, I must say.
Mario & Duck Hunt was the cartridge I clicked into the system. As a young lion, standing two-inches from the TV using the Zap Gun (while your parents screamed at you) became a consistent habit for me. By the way, that trick still doesn't work.
My name is Snake... I mean Brandon
In my freshman year, Konami released one of the greatest games ever: Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation.
I was blown away from this tactical-espionage-action that my obsession went so far that my nickname became Snake in school.
Actually, to tell you the truth, I received this nickname long before it came out when I was in middle school. I have no idea why. Perhaps I was sneaky, a real prick, or good with the ladies.
I doubt it was the last one.
What's great (or embarrassing) is the fact that people still call me it today; even my close friends. It's a name that stuck to me since my days of only weighing 96 pounds. Could've been worse, I suppose. I guess I can look at it as another feather in my cap.
WWF, X-Men; all these weird fantasies
Other than video games, I enjoy variety of music (The Offspring, Tom Petty), and even, I dare say, I am a professional wrestling fan. I haven't watched it in quite some time (it's just a little "cart-toon-ish" for me now), but in the N64 days, WWF No Mercy was (and still is) the best damn wresting grappler, period. Stone Cold, Undertaker, Chris Jericho -- very entertaining and believable performers.
I'm also an avid collector of comics, anywhere from Superman to X-Men. My interests are mostly Marvel, but Batman was also a DC hit to me. Cannot wait for The Dark Knight Rises!
I do enjoy the outdoors as well -- going camping, sitting by fires, and telling Are You Afraid of the Dark stories. Growing up, my parents had a huge woods in our backyard. Picture wooden swords and trash-can shields while I dressed up as Link...
