Have you seen those annoying commercials on TV that use stop-motion animation with real people? One of the newest trends in video-game appreciation seems to be using this ancient filming technology to create incredibly awesome representations of video games being played where no television screen has gone before.
One part helicopter-style homage to R-Type and another part a tip of the hat to artists like Michel Gondry, this short film from Alex Varanese is one of the coolest I've ever seen [Offworld via Boing Boing]:
It's an especially nice touch to have the "video" shut off accidentally and showing the Aux channel. Next stop for this aspiring filmmaker? Probably a new and annoying McRib TV commercial.
That's pretty darn cool. If you're gonna have an influence, Gondy ain't a bad choice.
And I love the way buildings pan by in the foreground. Lovely attention to detail. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Mmm.... McRib.
While I’ve seen stuff like this before on the web, this was pretty nice.
