If you're one of the millions of people who apparently still use Yahoo, perhaps you'll be thrilled to hear this one:
News Blips:
Developer Zynga announces a partnership to distribute its games and products across Yahoo's "global network" of websites. Through the deal, the Farmville and Mafia Wars maker will be able to make their games playable on Yahoo's homepage, mail service, messenger, etc. I believe this constitutes the beginning of phase two of Zynga's world-domination plan. [GamePro]
This Saturday, Fox plans to air a "short film made from Red Dead Redemption." John Hillcoat (The Road) directed the 30-minute machinima short, which was constructed using the game's engine. It'll be just like watching someone else play Red Dead Redemption, which just might inspire you to go out and buy a copy. Ahh, I see their angle now. [Rockstar]
THQ announces the THQ Partners program which is designed to help out smaller developers and publishers. The company's executive vice president of the global publishing division, Ian Curran, says that with this service they plan to enhance their "product offerings with quality games from developers and publishers who don't have the benefit of our extensive retail and online sales operations." Maybe now is a good time to pick back up that "ultimate video game" you tried to make back when you were 16. [Destructoid]
Though I usually don't like to report on rumors, these two seemed too delightful to pass up: Edge-Online has a source that claims Microsoft is looking to price Natal for $149 and bundle it with the Arcade Xbox 360 for $299. Elsewhere in scuttlebutt land, TheSixthAxis and VG247 separately report rumors that Sony plans to release an Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD bundle on the PS3 in the beginning of 2011. Apparently May 26 is the video game industry's loose-lips day.
