Hot. HOT! It's so hot! Mother nature, you a-hole! Why can't you just leave me alone?

News Blips:

Glenn Beck compares Angry Birds to the redistribution of wealth and the killing of Jews. Do you know what Angry Birds is about? I thought I understood what Angry Birds was about, but then I listened to right-wing radio blabbermouth Glenn Beck's explanation. Now, I know that either I have no clue what Angry Birds is about or I simply lack the correct level of paranoid delusions to see what Beck sees. Beck -- who is a big fan of the game -- explained to his cohorts that the birds are angry because they worked hard for their eggs and the pigs took them away. "It is redistribution of eggs," Beck says. "That’s all it’s about." Who knew that the birds were Tea Party patriots? Take a listen to the whole segment right here.

Star Wars: The Old Republic beta weekends will start in September. EA and Bioware will open the game to select players worldwide. Fans that get into the beta weekends will get a sneak peek at the stories, worlds, quests, battles, and characters of The Old Republic. The game still doesn’t have a ship date but is available for pre-order on EA’s new Origin digital distribution service. And I thought they smelled bad on the outside! I’m sorry -- my random-Star-Wars-quote generator is acting up. Grab me the hydrospanner! Ah, that's better.

Freddy Krueger is coming to Mortal Kombat on August 9. I don’t know if Johnny Cage lives on Elm Street, but he definitely has nightmares about an ugly man with claws who tries to kill him. The antagonist of Nightmare on Elm Street will be free DLC to gamers who plunked down the cash for Mortal Kombat’s Season Pass and 400 Microsoft Points for everyone else. If you have been wondering about some of Mortal Kombat's DLC characters, you can check out Michael Rousseau's character breakdown.

A new Darkstalkers game is in development. Capcom confirmed that they were working on a sequel to the monster fighting game during their Street Fighter X Tekken Comic-Con panel. The last entry in the Darkstalkers series was Vampire Savior which hit arcades more than a decade ago. Fans have been hankering for this game for quite some time. Hopefully, Capcom won’t pull a...well, “a Capcom” and cancel the game halfway through development like they did with Mega Man Legends 3. [G4TV]

Yeah, the Angry Birds explanation was ridiculous, but that's the point. Seemed to me the whole segment was tongue in cheek.

Yeah, the "don't kill the Jews" bit was definitely tongue-in-cheek.

That might have been in poor taste, but it's clear from his tone that Beck wasn't trying to make a serious political statement.

Unfortunately, I've heard him enough to know that the line between his jokes and his serious political statements is of a very blurry persuasion.

I figured "pulling a Capcom" would be if they released "Darkstalkers" followed by "Darkstalkers: Hyper Fighting" followed by "Hyper Darkstalkers for Matching Service" within a 6 week span.

Glenn Beck is a neo-conservative, sensationalist tool. He would insert conservative agenda into anything if he thought people would read it. I think we should get a a hard copy of any game really, crush up the disc into little, sharp slivers, and shove them up his urethra.

That was rather entertaining, for something involving Glenn Beck.  Surprising.  However, I don't think birds really "work hard" for their eggs.  They work hard after the eggs hatch, but the eggs... they just HAVE them and sit on them.  Much like the super-rich do with their money!  Hah!
